#marchmeetthemaker day 18 is mistake or lesson. Shouldn’t they really be the same? I’ve learned some valuable lessons from my mistakes. Mainly from not planning, prepping and making approximately 1,000 lists.
Day 18| Mistakes or Lesson
I think this is a loaded one. As a maker part of my creating process involves experimenting or making mistakes to get the idea you have in your head brought to life. I’m also all about trying new things, which warrants mistakes. The scroll saw is still new to me, that’s how I cut this cute bunny, and a huge learning curve. I have snapped so many blades and had to restart a cut so many times to get what I wanted. It’s part of the process, and the mistakes make me a better maker.
When it comes to lessons I have learned many. New makers take note:
1) Start small- Don’t feel you have to make a handful of one item so you have multiples. You will have some that just don’t take off and then they sit there.
2) Take the time to price your items to make sense to what you put in. I was and still am so afraid of this. Don’t sell yourself short.
3) Most importantly stop comparing yourself to other makers. It’s so hard not to, especially when starting out. I compare myself to others all the time and overlook what I create at times. I create because I love to do it, and it brings me calm and fun. That is enough! The fact that people share in this journey with me and want to make a piece of mine a part of their home just makes it even more satisfying and I’m touched to be able to do that!
Since I quit my job (outside the home) and started doing what I love full-time, I’ve had a bit of a hard time managing my time. I realized I can’t work all day and all evening. So, I’m working during the day and then doing things for myself in the evening as time allows. I made this wreath tonight & I absolutely love it! Such a fun project🌸❤️ #kustomcreationsbykc🌸 🌺 #dowhatyoulove#prettyflowers#feltflowers#wreath#spring2019
Been working on more pastel felt flower packs today 💕
97% said yes to my poll so here it is!! My FIRST YouTube video is linked in my bio! Go check it out to see the full talk-through version and leave me a comment to let me know what you think! 😋
What I’m working on | This could also be titled what I should be working on... I have plans to get two new kits ready for release by Easter, but in between kit packing, stock ordering, workroom moving, the 9-5 and life in general, progress is slow! I’m still 🤞🏻 I can achieve it though 🙈
This piece was truly a labor of love. I might have burnt my fingertips a few times but I absolutely LOVE how all of these teeny tiny wildflowers turned out so it was totally worth it!
I’ll be making a few tweaks to the design before I list this wildflower jar as a permanent made to order listing in the shop, but for now this one of a kind beauty is available on Etsy - the link is in my bio. 😊
Another busy day, if you watch my stories you’ll see the crazy fun I have making your orders and designing new collections. Here’s a new custom made collection but you can also find it available in my shop. As with most of my items it’s available in rose gold as shown, silver & gold. Happy Friday!! 😘🤗❤️
